The Headmaster's Introduction

Martin and Helen Myers-Allen with their boys, Lewis, Laurence and Alex

Pupils at Brandeston Hall are very proud of their school. They find their preparatory years exciting, rewarding and great fun. The youngsters explore their talents, discover new ones and feel valued in a friendly, caring and supportive environment.

We offer a broad, balanced curriculum and a diverse programme of activities. Pupils develop a real appetite and zest for life, flourishing into well-rounded, well-mannered and successful young men and women whatever their chosen path in life.

I warmly recommend you to make an appointment for a visit.  I would be delighted to meet you and would be very proud to show you around.

My wife and I came to Framlingham College in 1989 with a strong desire to have a complete change of lifestyle, having spent a couple of years as a provisional stockbroker and computer programmer respectively.  We were based in Rendlesham House where I was the resident tutor, teaching sport and science and my wife continued to work from home.  During these first five years, I coached the 2nd XV rugby team, the 2nd XI hockey team and was master in charge of athletics for more years than I care to remember.  I was soon introduced to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme; was commissioned as an officer in the Combined Cadet Force; ran the Sixth Form Centre and ran the UCAS university entrance system.  In 1994, I became Housemaster of Garrett House and enjoyed eight, highly successful years in post.  During that time, I also took over as the Contingent Commander and Awards Officer and my wife agreed to become a full time teacher of ICT and Biology.

We now have three children aged 14, 13 and 4 and they all enjoy growing up in a school environment.  Although our teaching experience has until now been with older pupils, we are closely involved with the education of our young family and understand intimately the challenges of prep school life.  I am proud to have been given the post as Headmaster of Brandeston, and Helen and I pledge ourselves to making a super school even better.  There are exciting times ahead.
