THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH'S AWARDS
Framlingham College has its own Operating Authority Licence and has been successfully running the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme for many years. Thousands of our pupils have benefited from their involvement. Currently over half of the College are involved at Bronze, Silver or Gold level. A quarter of the Sixth Form achieve the Gold Award before they leave. Over the past few years pupils have been awarded more badges and certificates at Framlingham than at any other Independent Operating Authority in the Eastern region.
The Award is a challenging programme of activities that will help young people to learn new skills, help others and experience adventure and it will give them a great sense of achievement. What’s more, many organisations such as employers and universities take a good view of the Award and what is says about the person who has achieved it.
There are three levels to the Award - Bronze, Silver and Gold - and, for each you complete activities in four sections – Service Skills, Physical recreation and Expeditions. At the Gold level you also take part in a Residential Project.
On successful completion, you will presented with a badge and certificate and at Gold level you are invited to a Presentation Ceremony at one of the Royal Palaces - with a record number of students that went to St James' Palace earlier in the year.

Sixteen former students received their Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Awards at St James' Palace in London on March 16th. This was a record number for the College in one session. The Duke of Edinburgh himself spoke to the group, asking them questions on where they had done their expeditions and how they had accomplished the various sections of the award. The recipients were: Kara Kendall, Jake Sallis, Tom Wilkinson, Ross Mumford, Tori Aldred, Sam Turner, Caroline Reid, Sean Collins, Ed Binder, James Wheeler, Alex Noakes, James Mee, Harriet Cole, Bethany Burgoyne, Will Burke and Tom Osmanski.
