Spiritual Care

Framlingham College is a community which has Christian principles at its heart. This Christian ethos is not defined in terms of doctrine, but embraces shared values'. The spiritual, ethical and moral life of the College is one where pupils are encouraged to think for themselves from a position of knowledge.
Most obviously the focus of this is the Chapel, but exploration takes place in some specific lessons such as Religious Studies and PSHE. Less tangibly, but just as importantly, a sense of values permeates all aspects of school life. Chapel activities range from regular weekday gatherings to services to mark special events in the Church calendar. They range from candlelit evening pauses for reflection to cheerful renditions of Gospel music. The Chapel is always open and is in an easily accessible place; many pupils leave prayer pebbles, or prayer candles which are regularly lit on Sunday evenings.
The College has its own Chaplain who engages with the lives of the students through teaching and being involved in extra-curricular activities. Another area where practical spirituality is shown is the concern for others through charity events and community service, as well as through activities such as Peer Mentoring or being a Prefect.
The College aims to develop knowledge and experience of the spiritual writ large, which will then in later life leave students with the chance to acquire wisdom and a chosen, rather than imposed, way of life
